She's gone...

It's Alastair here with the news that Jane died peacefully at 11.22pm last night, Sunday 26 January.

Having worried for so long about how I could possibly live up to the brilliance of Jane's blog, I now find that of course I can't.  There are no words to describe how much Zak, Ilias, Rosie and I love her and will miss her.  There are, however, so many people Jane would want me to thank for their support over the last 18 months, and I will try to pull something together over the next few days.

We will be holding an event to celebrate Jane's life in a couple of weeks or so.  I will post details of that on this blog.  The one thing we do know is that it will be hosted by the wonderful Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, where Jane was so happy.  More news as we get it.

I'm so sorry to be breaking such bad news.

Alastair

  2. Dear Alastair,

We worked together at the MoJ. You were a great boss and I have fond memories of that time in my career. I never had the pleasue of meeting Jane but anyone who worked for the welfare of animals has my admiration and respect. My thoughts and best wishes are with you and your family.

  3. Bless you and your young family.

    This is heart-breaking news.

I liked Jane very much, we met on the BBC forum and then at that Patient Day last year. We will miss her.

  5. Hi Alastair,

Thank you for the post. I used to work with Jane when she was at EMAP - she was our client but quickly became a friend. Always such a treat to see her - she helped me in so many ways and her sense of humor (especially about some of the bands she had to work with) made her a wonderful person to spend time with. We stayed in touch over the years and (of course) now I deeply regret not seeing her more often. We were supposed to meet for lunch in November but had to move it last minute with one thing and another - I don't think either of us realised things would move so quickly and so we never did rearrange.

That reminds me - Jane (if you're listening) you still have my "Grave Of The Fireflies" DVD!

Heartbreaking to read about the rapid decline in her blog posts/tweets but always framed by her loveliness, right until the end. What a brilliant, warm, caring, hilariously fantastic person and an awful loss - my heart goes out to you and your family.

    With sincere condolences,

    Tom x

  6. I've just read Jane's blog. And sobbed my way through it. I worked with Jane at MSM/Capital and will always remember her for the great friend she was to me then.

I can only imagine the pain you and your families are going through and can't believe she's gone.

My thoughts are with you and your children.

  7. Hi Alistair,

I've just found out your sad news and wanted to add my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I also worked with Jane many years ago at MSM and Capital Radio and always found her to be a genuinely kind, fun-loving, lovely person. I cannot
imagine what you will all be going through, but hope it helps a small part knowing that so many people cared for her, and will share your sense of loss.

  10. Alastair,
My sincere and deepest condolences to you and your family, I'm so sad to hear of her passing.
I had the pleasure of working with Jane twice - once at Capital Radio and a few years later at the Mail where we shared an office. She will remain in my memory as a happy, strong, intelligent woman with a fantastic sense of humour. RIP Jane.

  12. Hi Alastair
I will always have fabulous memories of Jane from our time working together at DMGT and will remember her MASSIVE collection of shoes under the desk. How she always smelt of Vebena by L'Occitaine and how we used to bitch and giggle. My love and fondest thoughts to you all
